Emma discovered Venice at the age of 16 and thereafter she always wanted to have a house in Venice to spend time there.
In fact she has always had a special bond with Venice and she stated repeatedly to feel like home when she is in the lagoon city.
Emma realised the dream of a lifetime when she and her husband, Greg Wise, became honorary citizens of Venice in February 2020. They both received the honorary Lion of St Mark to symbolise their acceptance into the city.
Emma released a video speaking in the Italian language to express her gratitude and to encourage everyone to respect this ‘beautiful and fragile’ city.
Emma and Greg relaunced the #EnjoyRespectVenezia campaign, in order to stress how essential is to protect ‘the most beautiful city in the world’ which is daily threatened by environmental degradation and overtourism.
