I think Emma would have deserved more Oscars and more nominations in career but my guess she is a person whose ideas scare and annoy someone at the command post!
It’s a complete blasphemy that her touching performance as Fiona Maye in “The children act” was not even considered. It’s absolutely scandalous!
Emma has always fought her battle against sexual harassment, she stands up to establishment and I’m convinced that not everyone likes it.
She even fights against high heels that men so love to look at!
She went to Buckingham Palace at the knighthood ceremony to receive her damehood, wearing a pair of comfortable sneakers!
“I’m very outspoken politically,” she told press “I’m a card-carrying feminist, human rights advocate… because the establishment needs more people who can speak up for those things.”
During the making of Brideshead revisited, she threatened to quit because her costar Hayley Atwell was asked to lose weight by a producer.
Emma told her: “You’re not a model. You’re an actor!” and explained that body-shaming is so common in Hollywood and everyone must be committed to vigorously tackling it!
Emma dropped out of the voice cast of the film “Luck”. She left the project because of John Lasseter’s hire.
She released a letter, first published in the Los Angeles Times, that Emma sent to Skydance to explain her reasons.
“Are we supposed to feel comforted that women who feel that their careers were derailed by working for Lasseter didn’t receive money?
I hope these queries make the level of my discomfort understandable.
I can only do what feels right during these difficult times of transition and collective consciousness raising.
I am well aware that centuries of entitlement to women’s bodies whether they like it or not is not going to change overnight. Or in a year. But I am also aware that if people who have spoken out — like me — do not take this sort of a stand then things are very unlikely to change at anything like the pace required to protect my daughter’s generation”.
“If a man has been touching women inappropriately for decades, why would a woman want to work for him?”.
